Photographic corpus comprising four large-scale black and white photographs mounted on steel volumes.

Materials: Lambda prints; aluminum supports; pressed steel volumes; pine and chipboard structure; microcrystalline wax Size: Photographs: 120 cm x 180 cm. Steel volumes: 120 cm x180 cm x 60 cm

Following the exploration of L'Ombre survivante, I accentuated the presence of the photographs by constructing four steel volumes measuring 4’X6’ with a depth of 20”. A photograph of equivalent width and height was affixed to the surface of each. My object was to question the ideal space of the image and the photographic fragment, playing with the idea of tectonics and adding tactile depth and laterality to the three-dimensional supports. The photographs penetrate and even absorb the physical space of the gallery. They possess their own materiality as individual objects and confer movement upon the whole through the viewers’ movements. Viewers find themselves within the landscape, accompanying the walkers depicted.

The photographs show people on the beaches of Cap Canaveral. The over- or under-exposed silver based prints were created by superposing white or grey horizontal strata, forming layers that are punctuated by the vertical presence of the people shown. The human silhouettes are the only element creating perspective amid the accumulated horizontal fragments. The silhouettes become faceless individuals that move through and along the borders traced between water and solid ground
